I’ve seen many decks other than mine
Each one unique, one of a kind
Some live in pockets and rarely come out
Some know not what this allegory’s about
Blisters on feet ‘cause the piper won’t stop
Some are pried loose like corn from a crop
Proud dwellers, those other in hands
They demand attention like rain on dry sand
Come hither you. Here’s my deck of cards.
I’ll show you a few. Oh dithering gods!
Oh where oh where are all my 52 cards?
My Kings and Queens, Diamonds and Twos
Are all here albeit hidden from view.
I’ll show you my Jokers, though they really don’t count.
You’ll notice not, thi
Reaching up to the sky like a vine
Counting constellations until I
Fell asleep and
Dreamt the dream of newborns
Time, ‘twas endless
Free-floating, no walls
Images holding forever
Like a sea of stars
Thoughts weaving patternless patterns
Opaque emotions dancing
I am one with the universe
Reaching up to the sky like a vine
Not knowing the horizon is a mirage and I
Am stardust

Cleopatra's Apprentice
An unknown fact: Cleopatra had an apprentice
He’d kneel beside her and serve her vinegar-and-pearl concoctions
in canopic jars adorned with the head of Anubis painted in blood
She took him as her lover and doused him with power
and thought Julius Caesar had nothing on him
She wrung his innocence out right through his eyes—
Burned it and kept the ashes in her mausoleum heart
She taught him many things and he ruled as her secret king
He served her well; his Goddess, his Isis incarnate
and in turn, she loved him completely
When she died he spread rose petals at her feet and took his memories to scribes
who copied his embellishments

Huh? WHAT!?!
I have no idea what you mean
so perhaps I need subtitles
or closed captioning
'cause I couldn't have heard you right
I mustn't understand
Hope you're not illiterate
as well as verbally challenged
'cause I'm asking you to clarify
Spell it out 'cause I know
I didn't hear you clearly
I couldn't have
Repeat it, please
Please repeat it
It sounded like: I love you
Followed by: you're beautiful
Help me to understand
Do you mean it?
Could it be?
Are you finally speaking my language?

Metaphysically meditating metronomes
You help mystical muses manage to make me whole.
Well, almost. Abstractly acknowledging the alarming problems
my life seems to create provides punctually persistent perception.
A psychic profoundly paranormal you peruse the pendulum of life and space with philosophical pensation.
Lifting lives from lowered states you look like a king among lowly men.
Look, nay! Nary a native in these narrow lands could nauseate normality.
I know you use your useful tools to open up huge doors.
Clad in crispy yet click-and-clanking cold hardened metal your clairvoyance astounds!

Three Haikus About Emotional Distress
1. Please don't break my soul.
The tape has been stretched too far
to take on more weight.
2. I won't tell you, "Hi,"
so long as I sit afraid
of really dumb things.
3. Simple hearts get crushed
by the most caring people.
I'm too defensive
There is no rhyme no reason;
This is the perfect time for a season of love.
Don't need to feel afraid, dear,
I'm in it with you, calm your fears my lovely dove.
Just open your heart so wide;
I shan't leave your side, not even for a moment.
"My prince, I really need you,"
I softly say, "I can't do it without you here."
"Don't fret so, my pet."
A voice that can calm a thousand treacherous tides
"You do sooth me so "
And when you have to go I'm glad you're kind of mine.
"So open your eyes
and drop that silly old disguise you always wear."
Then you pet my head
and slowly absorb all the dread I hap' to own.
I thank you k
Caged in like a furry lioness
Only occupation: the circus;
Only provocation: that juicy steak telling me to roar.
Pacing back and forth in a small, iron cage I wait
"Today will be the day," I purr in bemusement.
"The cage will be left open and I can make my escape!"
Today is not the day
Tomorrow will not be either.
Cooped up and growling at the moon am I;
Nothing but freedom will give me that high.
A savvy new attendant is trying his hand
to feed me,
bathe me
and nurture my self-inflicted wounds.
I see a sorrow in him
Or is that mine reflecting back?
He coos sweet nothings to me as he brushes my fur
an
"She of bright eyes
and multi-colored hair
aware, she is
as am I
of
time passing us by
and
unanswered prayers floating on the wind."
Words spoken from so far
but held so close
too close.
Maybe.
Plans to run off
leave our kin
be
be happy.
Happy? A myth.
A big.
Stupid.
Myth.
What wanton things have been left to dust?
What breath,
shallow and laden with despair,
will escape time now?

and
I are ne'er
to be as one.
Understandable, yes.
Okay?
Never in a thousand eons.
Broken sentences that end without rhyme
These are the natures of our time together.
Where doth howl
The lovely monster on the prowl
Deep down we know
This monstrosity can't be all
There has to be something more
Does there?
Does everything have to have more?
A vampire is just a bloodsucker leech
With more of a charm and more of the teeth
A werewolf just a furry beast
With friendliness before the moon breaks
I am but a murderer
No background plus no life
No charm nor shining backlight
Comedical deaths
That i enjoy with a cheer
As your head rolls clear
And drop kicked out of here
You are just a romantic
With a fascination with the supernatural and fantastic
Bloodsuckers leave you dry
And well wolves just do
How wonderfully innuendous innuendos are.
It's too bad I can over look those. Jealous much?
Told you I thought so.
Maybe it's time to be direct or get the fuck out.
Even I get fed up with toying around.
Hopefully you'll take the chance when you can.
And if you don't?
Reaching for it might still solve things.
Dilemmas are only dilemmas until you can find a solution.
"Patience is a virtue," but I have no time for games.
Love me leave me, never please me? It's over.
Escalating, it's all escalating from here
Aren't you the little sneak;
Shoving your way into my life?
Exceptional.
